I wish some images would lose colours in my mind. I wish them to get blurry until they disappear and things feel right again.
When I think this might happen, my minds tricks me and brings it all back.
I have the heart of a fool who doesn't let it go.

happy birthday

I just came back from a nice birthday party. I missed my friends and we had such a funny time, as always. And the cake was so good!
There are many celebrations this month. Next one will be my mom's birthday, then another friend and finally my dad.

Who knows me a little bit knows that I'm no big fan of beaches. But right now I'd love to have a relaxing time by the ocean riding a bike. And with nothing serious to think about.
The picture is from 2003, when I met for the first time a good friend of mine and we were taking a nice walk around the neighbouhood I used to live in.

I'm bad with updates, but I'm still alive

To write that I'm busy is no big news.
At the last post, I wrote about my vacation and I have to say it was simply great. Buenos Aires is lovely and I really want to go back. I will write a nice post with tips about the cool places I went to and the nice things I saw.
But right now I've got something bigger going on. After putting my final paper for the post-graduation course on hold for about one year, I'm working on it again. Today I had a meeting with my professor and she is very carried away with it.

The picture above is from El Ateneo bookstore in Buenos Aires. It was a theater and now it's the most famous bookstore in town with an amazing café. But my favourite is definitely Walrus Books.

Vacation fever

I started browsing at pictures from last year's vacation and it just made me more excited about my future trip.

It's funny how this time it took me some time to realize how close my vacation is. I know how many days I have to wait since I booked the flights (my friend doesn't let me forget about it).

I've been checking websites of turistic information about Buenos Aires and I really don't get why people say four or five days are enough to see the whole city. The more I check, the more I think I won't have enough time to see all that I want.

Vacation

I'm day dreaming about vacation. Now, I only have to wait less than a month.

For the first time, I'm going to Buenos Aires and it's kind of funny that, after many years going to the same place, I'll be in a city where I actually have no friends. For the first time also, I'll be traveling with friends.

So far, my friends that have been there say I'll simply love the city. And I'm very curious and excited about exploring it.

It's been a month since I've moved. I took a few photos, but haven't organized them yet.

One more year

Today, I'm officially one year older.
The perfect birthday gift will be everything working out so I can move to my new flat on Saturday morning. Fingers crossed!

Os Filhos da Pauta

Personally, I hate hated Carnival in Brazil. I don't didn't like the samba schools, the parades, the parties. The exception are the traditions in Recife and Olinda, but I think these are interesting and that's it.
But friends can convince us of doing unexpected things. This is how I ended up at a party organized by the Journalists Union, in Santos. It was on the beach (not my cup of tea either) and I still had lots of fun. Of course, this has nothing to do with the music they played there.
It was just really good to meet friends from college. It's been four years since I graduated and I haven't seen most of them during this time. It was so nice hearing the stories and knowing what they are doing.

New flat

Lately, I'm reading magazines and checking websites about construction and decoration. Very soon, I'll choose what I want to get for my new flat. It's pretty exciting and such a big step. At least the bureaucratic part is all solved.
During some time, I thought I should be happier about this. But as moving time approaches, I think more and more about it.
I wanna go shopping for sinks and taps and tiles!

The year started with lots of things to be done. I feel a little bit messed up and not really motivated for a couple of things. On the other hand, I feel so hopeful about good things happening in 2009.
